If we're struggling on something, it's easy to get distracted by all the searching and discovery of a new idea - one that doesn't have any problems yet.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6667260282067472646.post-66395712205878512272018-02-07T10:47:04.071-08:002018-02-07T10:47:04.071-08:00You know, that "SQUIRREL!" is the sound ...You know, that "SQUIRREL!" is the sound on my phone for every time I get an email. I've embraced it as part of my persona. :)

I've personally never considered "shiny new ideas" as mocking the ideas. It says they're pretty, eye-catching, enthralling. A new toy that I can get giddy about. Then again, in my mind it does convey a sense of temporary enjoyment. It's like getting new earrings. I know I won't wear them past the initial love faze, but I do enjoy flaunting them when they're new. I'll eventually switch back to the plain, sensible hoops I can wear every day. But that models my writing too. I might momentarily deviate for a story here and there, but I always return to my epic series. It's probably different for other people who aren't hell bent on finishing a four book series that has stuck with them for almost over two decades.
