IWSG: One Good Thing

I had one good thing happen this week:
Naturally, it didn't last; I haven't done a thing since then.  But it's the one thing I've got, and I'm sticking to it, since everything else lately has been the same shit as the rest of this year.  I'm overworked and exhausted and I feel like hell when I don't get any writing done but I damn sure don't feel like doing anything after yet another ten-hour workday.

Hope everyone else out there is doing better than me.

  1. Celebrate the small things, eh? My writing has been spotting too, but hey, that's life. =) Here's to taking the small successes with a TON of cheese.

P.S. I nominated you for an award in September, then failed to get around and say something. Way to go me!

    1. Thanks, but no worries; I don't think there's anything award-winning on this blog anyway. >_<

  2. Do what you can, when you can. After working a 10-hour day, I wouldn't have the energy to write either. Best wishes.

    1. I try. But yeah, I'm lucky to have the energy to do anything these days.

  3. I know where you are. Right now I am dealing with a very sick spouse with an incurable sickness and a bunch of other things, but I find peace in my writing. Even if I sink into my writing world for just a few minutes, it means something to me.
I hope your month of November will be better.
    Take care.

    1. *shrug* It's nothing, really. The project feels deader every time I think about it.

  5. Two pages is better than nothing. And you've shown a mastery of voice, which is one thing that can't be taught (as I've found with giving feedback to some people). You did good, yo.

  6. 10 hour work day? Sheesh. Yeah... I wouldn't want to write after that either. But yay for two pages though! That muse hasn't left after all. She's just out on a long coffee break.

    1. Having ideas is never the issue - getting them to become an actual story and getting that out of my head in a workable manner is. And I haven't been able to manage that in I don't know how long.

  7. Ah, sometimes the well is drier and even a glass of water takes a long time to replace. Congratulations on doing something, it's way better than nothing.

    1. Thanks, but odds are good it'll amount to nothing. As per usual.

  8. Two pages is great! There's no way I can write on long days either. Can anyone? We take what we can get!

    1. *shrug* On my good writing days, I can hammer out five pages. And this wasn't even actual writing, just character notes.

  9. I remember those 10-hour days. Seemed like writing only happened 'between' but those 'between' sessions hold everything else up. One writer I know made a commitment to 100 words a day . . . and that helped her move out from under. Right now, I'm too deep in revision to write many new words, but I want to say, "Keep cussin' and keep writing!"

    1. Thanks, but I've tried making commitments like that. It only leads to more disappointment when I don't make them.
